Mrs M. was in an abusive marriage and no means of income. She needed to leave her husband for the safety of herself and two young children. She asked JAF for financial help to begin her new life.

Our Mission

With support of the Pittsburgh Community, the JEWISH ASSISTANCE FUND helped more than 400 members of the Jewish community in 2016. We provided emergency financial assistance for medical, dental, transportation, utilities and housing expenses.

Without any expectation of repayment, monies in the form of a grant are allocated to avoid immediate utility shutoff, eviction and foreclosure, shortage of required medicine, lack of food or clothing and many other dire circumstances.
